Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant

Bio

My name is LaWana Kennedy.  I am a Licensed Professional Counselor.  In January of 2020, I was hired as an Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant with the Alabama Department of Mental Health. From previous years of working with children with trauma, and seeing how their behavior can be misinterpreted, I was so excited to see a position like this existed. I am delighted and honored to be apart of this process.

I am the mother of 2 sons 22 and 14.  Being their mother is truly a blessing and they definitely keep me on my toes. One thing I like to do often is practice gratitude.  I love doing things for other people. That may be sending a card, giving a word of encouragement, or baking a cake for someone for no special reason. It makes me happy to see other people happy.
